Östersund Skidstadion

Östersund Ski Stadium is owned and managed by Östersund Municipality. The municipality handles and maintains the ski trails, and you need to purchase a Trail Pass to ski on several of them.

Please note that dogsand ski pulks are allowed on some trails. Florvalla (fluorid wax) are not permitted in the Municipality (read Sweden).

Leave the trails in the condition you want to find the! Take your trash with you and keep the trails clean. Thank you in advance!

Trail Fees for Östersunds skidstadion

Private Person:
The trail fee applies to cross-country skiing and biathlon at Östersund Ski Stadium. You need a trail pass from the time the trails open until the municipality longer prepare them – regardless of whether it is artificial or natural snow.

The trail pass is valid in the ski stadium area, which refers to the shooting range and the training & competition trails in the artificial snow track including the stadium platform, the world cup tracks, the 2.7 km exercise track (blue/yellow), the 3.5 km exercise track (red/yellow) and the 5.0 km electric light exercise track (green/yellow).

How to buy a trail card?

The rail pass is available as a day pass or season pass. You can buy it via:
Swish: Nummer 123-696 40 27 (Mottagare: TFF SWISH KMN) (Swedish bank needed!) or
Retail shop: ICA Maxis förbutik (foreshope) at the entrence, Stadion­butiken at Arctura or Landbys på Lillänge retail area. (Cardpayment).

If you belong to Benefy.se or Epassi.se (healthportals) you can use your benefit there.

IMPORTANT!! The ski pass is personal and you should always carry a receipt/proof with you when skiing. Random checks are carried out. If you buy a season pass via Benify or Epassi, you only need to state your name and that you have used the respective benefit portal.

Almost 90 km of trails

At Östersund Ski Stadium, there are nearly 90 kilometers of ski trails to choose from. Here you will find exercise trails, floodlit trails, competition trails and roller ski tracks – all in varying lengths and degrees of difficulty.

This means that as a skier you will meet many different types of skiers; those who enjoy the nature experience, recreational skiers and those who are training for a competition. So adjust your speed and keep in mind that there are also beginners out on the trails.

Ski trails with a trail fee are marked with “$=Spåravgift/Betalspår”. You find current track status HERE. Please note that tracks that starts at or inside the stadium are closed or changed during event/race day!

When you click on the word “Aktuell spårstatus” you will find a map over the specific trail and current conditions of the named trail.

“Skidstadionområdet” are for the specific trails at an around Skidstadion!

Fouride Wax

All kinds of wax containing fouride are forbidden.

When you buy ski wax in Sweden it does not contain fouride or any forbidden chemicals. Staff in ski/sport shops can help you find the right one for your needs.

Dogs & Person-drawn children´s sled

It is permitted to ride with a dog and/or a person-pulled children’s sled on the municipality’s ski track (skate section), with the exception of the Skistadion’s electric light trails.

You are allowed to ride with a maximum of two leashed dogs at the same time and/or a children’s sled, but you are only allowed to ride on the surface of the track that is intended for skating.

You must always keep your dog on a leash and under strict supervision. You always pick up after your dog. As a dog owner, you are fully responsible for your dog and keep your distance and show great consideration for others who are on the ski tracks.

Please note that dog sleds (of any kind) are not permitted on any of the trails.

Trails with light

In the lighted tracks inside the stadium, the lights are turned on at 07 – 22 (7 AM- 10 PM) Other lighted tracks only have twilight lighting from the afternoon and are turned off at 22 (10 PM).

Opening hours for facilities at Skidstadion

On the ground floor of the Media Center at Skistadion you have access to changing rooms with showers and a sauna. No lockers or security boxes!

Please note that the front door is locked 30 minutes before closing.

Rent equipment, Buy ski wax & Lessons

At Skidstadionbutiken, located next to Arctura the “watertower,” you can rent cross-country ski equipment and buy wax and other accessories. The shop also offer ski servicing and repairs. Please note that this small shop is open only during the winter season. The hours are 10 AM to 6 PM. You can reach them at +46 (0)63 – 18 90 00 or info(at)stadionbutiken.se.

Tip! Reach out to the store before your journey to Sweden, as the excitement of renting equipment and booking lessons can lead to quick sell-outs at the start of the season. Embrace the adventure and plan ahead to make the most of your experience!

The rest of the year, you can visit the main store, Landbys Jaktia Östersund. Since 1890, they have been an active partner to successful hunters, fishermen, hikers, and skiers. The physical store is located in the middle of Östersund’s largest shopping center, Lillänge trading place, on Hagvägen 9, by Ica Kvantum and Systembolaget. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 10:00-18:00 (10 AM – 6 PM), Saturday 10:00-15:00 (10 AM – 3 PM), and Sunday 11:00-15:00 (11 AM – 3 PM).

Wax sheds at Skidstadion

If you need to wax your skis, there is a heated waxing shed for the public down by the Media Center. You can also rent your own shed behind the shooting range if you have a lot of skis to fix. Call Östersund Municipality Customer Center at +46 (0)63 14 30 00 (Mon-Fri at 8 AM-6 PM).

Can you drink the tapwater in Östersund?

YES!! It is perfectly fine to drink the tap water in Östersund. The municipality has very good quality drinking water, which is mainly taken from Storsjön. On occasion, chlorination may be needed, which can give a faint taste or smell, but the water is completely safe to drink.
