We are completely independent from Östersund Municipality, which owns and manages Östersund Ski Stadium. We are not in any way involved in any form of physical or digital marketing at the ski stadium during events or similar occurrences. We are also not involved in the management of the stadium itself, its facilities or the ski trails.

Our website, skidstadion.se, is completely private and is completely independent from Östersund Municipality and it´s activities. Our purpose with this site and related sites is to collect open information in a convenient place to make it easier for the public and its visitors to find their way in their everyday lives in and around Östersund. The fact that we love being out in nature and skiing is just an advantage.

Who we are?

We live or have lived in Östersund or just outside. Some of us have moved back after education and work, while others who move away from home return regularly to see family and friends. We have all used various ski trails to enjoy skiing or have thrown ourselves down the slopes in Gustavsbergsbacken.

Mr. Hans Stål, who worked for the municipality and was very involved in its activities around the ski stadium, trails and Gustavsbergsbacken, started this website many, many years ago. He has now retired and is handing over to “younger” people to run the website. Mr Stål handcoded the first site and did an amazing job with the technology during those early days.

The boring stuff

A big change is that in addition to the modernization of the website, we also want to expand the information available to tourists. Those who visit the website mainly come from outside Sweden.

The visitors come from all over the world, in about 35,000 visitors/month. The number goes up to 50,000 visitors especially before and during major World Cup competitions. The visitors are mainly from countries where Biathlon and Cross Country skiing are major sports.

Visitors click on activities at the stadium itself but also how to find attractive accommodation and what/where to eat.

We have updated our website so that we can better see exactly where visitors click. We hope for understanding that the technical change to the website means that we are almost starting from scratch when it comes to these statistics. But since the change is necessary, we see it all as a big challenge and hope that You who want to advertise with us want to join us on this challenging journey.

The future

We are thinking of expanding the site. It will still hold the basic information about the stadium, ski trails, trail passes and other tings.

We want to expand the information flow on how to repair your equipment, who offer the best hamburger, what kind of machine is best for prepping ski trails, sport clubs, sport clothes, does any hotel have a pillow Butler and much more.
