TRAILS AROUND THE STADIUM & AROUND ÖSTERSUND

Brunflo

In Brunflo, the electric light track is located at Rosenlundsvägen in the Storviken area. The ski tracks are managed by Östersund Municipality. The electric light track only has twilight lighting from the afternoon and is turned off at 22:00 (10:00 PM).

Lit

In Lit, the electric light track is located at Norrgård with access via Verkstadsvägen. The ski tracks are managed by Östersund Municipality. The electric light track only has twilight lighting from the afternoon and is turned off at 22:00 (10:00 PM). Easily accessible with good parking at the intersection of E 45 and the road towards Litsnäset/Aspås. North of the Byggelit industrial area. One of the longer trails at a total of 3.8 kilometers. Aim for the red hut that is the Litsbygdens SK clubhouse. Demanding course both technically and physically.

Lugnvik

The electric light track is located at Norra Åsvägen. The ski track is managed by Östersund Municipality. The electric light track only has twilight lighting from the afternoon and is turned off at 22:00 (10:00 PM). No crowds. Easy trail. Not very inviting from a distance, but just turn off Åsvägen in Lugnvik and park your car. A moderate trail for those who want to take some leisurely runs after work or for those who want to bring their children or practice skiing skills. Senior-friendly. High coniferous forest the whole way, well prepared.

Rannåsen

Rannåsen is located just east of Östersund along the E45. The ski tracks in Rannåsen start from Östersund’s ski stadium. You can also get on at the snow storage.

Spikbodarna

Spikbodarna is located just east of Östersund along road 87. The exercise trails are very ski-friendly and are suitable for those who want to enjoy nature in peace and quiet. You can get on the ski trails directly in Spikbodarna or go from Östersund’s ski stadium.

Torvalla

You can get on the electric ski track in Torvalla at four different locations, including at Furuparken. At Torvallaskolan there is a shorter track adapted for the very youngest. The ski tracks are maintained by Östersund Municipality.

Torråsen

Torråsen is located just east of Östersund along the E45. You can get on the ski trails directly in Torråsen or go from Östersund’s ski stadium.

Lövsta on Frösön

At Lövsta on Frösön you will find both exercise trails and floodlit trails. Parking is available at Lövstavägen. The exercise trails run in gently undulating terrain and wind their way through the spruce forest. Three of the ski trails are maintained by Östersund Municipality.

Östberget

At Östberget you will find the electric light track via Toppvägen where you can also park your car next to the track. The ski track is managed by Östersund Municipality. Great view over Östersund. Drive out towards the observation tower on Frösön (Utsiktstorn Frösötornet) and follow signs “Elljusspår”. On the way up to the tower there is a small parking space on the left side. From there it is close to the trail. But be prepared for the downhill from the start! Tough downhill at first, but very hard surface and good skate width means that you can plow down for almost a kilometer. Requires strong legs. Difficult. Target group is the downhill skier & mountain goat. Not for families with children.

Other ski trails

In the villages there are ski and lighted trails that are managed by non-profit associations. All of the trails listed here have their own charm and can be used by everyone from beginners to elite exercisers. Information about who take care of the trails you can find on available information signs at the begining of the trail.

FÅKER

2,5 km, Electric light track. When you come from Grönviken holding and approach Fåker, turn left at the recycling station and you’re there. An old, fine, classic village ski stadium from the 1960s. Easy to get there, easy to get out on the slope. Lots of staking and nice classic skiing is offered.

GENVALLA on Frösön

2,5 km. The floodlit trail in Genvalla (on Frösön, Östersund) is a very popular exercise trail for both running and cross-country skiing. Lighting: Turns on automatically at nightfall and usually turns off at 10:00 PM. Parking at Genvalla IP.

HARA

3 km. The illuminated trail in Hara is a floodlit exercise track measuring 3 km. The trail is maintained by a local non-profit association and is highly popular for running during the snow-free season and as a groomed cross-country ski track in winter. It is operated and groomed on a voluntary basis. Lighting are generally switched on from early morning (around 05:30) until daybreak, and from dusk until approximately 22:00.

HÄGGENÅS

2,5 km. The so-called “Elljusslingan” starts at the local history museum (Tistegården) where it is signposted. There is a small parking lot there. The trail then mainly follows the edges of the property along the agricultural landscape on the outskirts of the village. A shorter section of a few hundred meters goes along a backroad road in forest terrain. A nice track. Long sweeping stretches where you can ski, mostly for the skier who gets around at a leisurely pace and leisurely pace.

LILLSJÖHÖGEN

2,4 km In Lillsjöhögen there is a 2.4-kilometer illuminated trail that is completely free to use. The trail is normally groomed for cross-country skiing during the winter. It is maintained by volunteers and is highly appreciated for its beautiful natural surroundings.

MARIEBY

2,7 km. In Marieby, 5 km south of Östersund, there is a pleasant and easily accessible illuminated trail at the Marievall sports complex. Illuminated during the winter months and also serves as a groomed cross-country ski track when there is snow. The trail also connects to other trail systems in the surrounding area, such as those in Tandsbyn and Svartsjöarna.

NORDERÅSEN

3 km. The illuminated trail in Norderåsen is a 3 km exercise track located at the Nordanborg community center, approximately 30 km north of central Östersund. The lights are turned on manually by skiers and switch off automatically at 10:00 PM. The trails are maintained on a voluntary basis by the Nordanborg Association and are free to use. Length: 3 km. Parking & Start: At the “Nordanborg” community center.

ORRVIKEN

3 km. A little hidden up in the village. For those coming from outside, you can either go to the school, where the track now has an offshoot, and start from there. Otherwise, you have to make your way up and past the school, then onto Karl-Lars-vägen and follow it to the end. There you can see the starting cabin. The light switch is on the post right next to it. A little difficult to find parking, but I parked on a small cleared area in the curve. The track runs through old cultural and agricultural lands, along base roads, past barns and over pine moors. Here you can get an outlet for some classic skiing. Just right for pensioners and children.

STORHÖGEN

2,6 km. In Storhögen (north of Östersund), there is a popular 2.6-kilometer illuminated trail. The trail is lit, scenic, and completely free to use. During the winter season, it is frequently groomed for cross-country skiing.

TANDSBYN

2,3 km & 2,7 km. Available parking at the school and sports grounds in Tandsbyn. Easy to find, good parking, and then straight out onto the trail. Very classic skiing. Calm, following sections with a couple of shorter downhill runs that require concentration. Child and pensioner-friendly.


EXERCISE TRACK of Tandsbyns IF-Löfsåsen

1 km, 2,3 km, 2,7 km & 9 km. The trail (9 km) between Tandsbyns IP and Löfsåsen is a popular, scenic route for exercise and skiing. It is maintained by volunteers from Tandsbyns IF. It runs from the Tandsbyn sports ground up to Löfsåsen. (There is also the option to continue towards Svartsjöarna, making for a 12 km route). Connecting trails: Tandsbyn also offers illuminated trails of 1 km, 2.3 km, and 2.7 km. Trail status: Since the trails are groomed by volunteers as time permits, it is always recommended to check the current status before heading out HERE.
